Restaurant Latour and the other restaurants of Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin have been proudly contributing to a special initiative since 2017: Made Blue. This foundation promotes access to clean drinking water worldwide and does so in a smart and symbolic way. Every bottle of water sold in Dutch hospitality outlets equals an equal amount of clean drinking water in developing countries. In this way, the initiative raises awareness while providing meaningful, long-term support to those in need.
Made Blue has 3 main goals: improving drinking water facilities in developing countries, raising awareness about our water footprint, and supporting everything that contributes to sustainable water use. For restaurants like Latour, this goes beyond a social contribution — it’s a chance to create meaningful impact through something as simple as a glass of water. In this way, guests are not only indulged with a gastronomic experience, but contribute to a better world at the same time.
The impact of this collaboration is impressive. Since the third quarter of 2017, Restaurant Latour and the other catering establishments within Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin have teamed up with Made Blue to provide no less than 77,775,860 litres of clean drinking water in developing countries. That equates to permanent drinking water supplies for more than 1,065 people – not only for the next decade, but probably far beyond.
Clean drinking water for everyone
